Southern Wales and England

Chedworth has one of the grandest Roman Villas in Britain, particularly impressive because of its conservation of mosaic floors, hypocaust (heating) systems and bathhouse rooms. It is thought to have been in use in Roman Britain in 362AD. This is the Grand Dining Room with amazingly well preserved mosaics depicting Greek Myths. After 1066 when William the Conquerer invaded Britain the villa was left in ruins and eventually covered with layers of dirt. This has helped preserve a lot of what we see here today.
